See The Color in Black and White

For the past 20 years I’ve been dedicated to the method of highlighting the ‘color’ in life’s binary situations.

My message is clear – “See things differently”

As a visual artist with a background in psychology, I aim to tease out my artistic method within the viewer as well as myself.  The goal is not to persuade or convince anyone of anything, but to play on that all but forgotten string of – .. Wonder.

As a function of thought as a  behavior, I promote seeing things differently! When we see things from a different viewpoint, wonderful things happen, so I provide an open space of open minds, to entertain that wonder..and grow.

The Workshop

My studio is the mind

My current practice involves ‘Reductive’ painting.  During the painting of a picture, I practice a reduction of color and shape until the canvas ‘shows’ me elements of the work.

After layers of color and line, I arrive at ambiguous, but detailed expressions of what my minds eye sees!

What is most exciting about this method of work is that I join the viewer in figuring it out.  There is nothing more invigorating than playing around with the subconscious, and becoming a viewer to enjoy my work from a new perspective.

As a visual artist, I aim to see the "color" in the "black and white" conversations offered in society today. These dichotomies are almost always opposite, "Black and White", if you will, and I encourage entertaining different perspectives and allowing room for color!
